Last month, the Camp Horizon family reunited for the second straight year at Terminal West in Atlanta under one mission: to help restore dignity and hope to Atlanta’s youth in foster care. The event raised over $111,000 with the help of many wonderful people including family, donors, friends, and volunteers. Camp Horizon celebrates its 37th year in existence, and has helped hundreds of emotionally wounded children from foster care backgrounds grow into healthy and productive members of society.
Partnering with organizations such as DFACS and Camp Twin Lakes, Camp Horizon has developed year-round programs centered on teaching the “3 R’s”: Respect, Responsibility and Resilience. During its summer camp for foster kids, Camp Horizon provides life changing experiences at state-of-the-art camping facilities while uniquely maintaining a one-to-one camper to counselor ratio.
Our colleague, Andrew Henry, has attended six week-long summer camps since 2012 and currently serves on the Camp Horizon board.
