This week, we wanted to briefly revisit our equity investment approach, and we’ve included an article that very simply describes several equity investing strategies.
Our firm has supported a “core and satellite” style of investing that is related to the active vs. passive style discussed in the article. This style uses specific positions to track an index as the core/passive piece. Our strategy is to utilize index funds in asset classes where active fund managers have demonstrated a hard time beating the index. For the satellite/active approach, our portfolios include some actively managed funds that have exhibited a track record of beating their benchmark.
As always, our portfolios are designed to be well diversified, and we are very disciplined with our investment changes and rebalancing efforts. Our belief is this disciplined plan will produce better results over time.
We wanted to mention that rarely are two investment strategies the same given the different circumstances surrounding every individual or family.
